the WaterfrontA grand name for, basically, where the land stops and the water begins. Helensburgh has a history steeped in links to the water. Henry Bells Comet sailed from here up to Glasgow, fishing paddle steamers full of day trippers. Those days are gone now, although the Waverley still comes in to the pier. So, we are down to a daily ferry, which is a good way to see a diferent perspective on the land, as well as the occasional military type falling out of the sky. |
